Meet Our New Staff Members for 2022
New year, new faces! Please join us in welcoming our new Galilee staff members for 2022:
Who is your hero?
My hero would be my supervisor that I had through my Masters. She was an incredible woman who strived hard to deliver the message of inclusive education for all schools so that all children could/can access and strive with their learning.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
On my first day of school, I said that I wanted to be a teacher! As I went through schooling, I had phases of wanting to be a vet, journalist, author, and music video editor. While the later choices became more interesting, I am glad that I followed my initial dreams and ended up teaching.
What was your first-ever job?
Earlier on I was earning money by ironing my dad’s work shirts. Then when I was old enough to work, I got a job in the fruit and vegetable department at my local supermarket.
What is your favourite way to spend a day off/weekend?
With my husband, Cory, my children, Nessy & Huxley, and our dog Lyra exploring nature and hanging at the beach.
What is the best part of your job?
Watching the growth of each child throughout the year. It is incredible to be a part of their journey and assist them in their social, emotional and academic progress.
Do you have any secret talents you would like to share?
I do love to sew and create unique pieces of clothing, when I have time. Also, I don’t know if it is a talent but I have a knack for finding hidden gems in op shops.
Who is your hero?
My hero is my Dad, Shaun. He has worked tirelessly to provide for my family and has always pushed me to be the best version of myself. He also took a massive risk and moved my family and I out to Australia from England. This turned out to be the best decision ever and I’m very grateful for all he has done for me.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was younger I wanted to be a professional athlete, a soccer player to be exact but as I got a little older I really wanted to be a teacher. I had some excellent teachers who positively influenced me and inspired me to become a teacher.
What was your first-ever job?
My first ever job was stacking shelves at Big W when I was 15. I remember working some really long hours over Christmas time and eating raspberry licorice twists in my breaks.
What is your favourite way to spend a day off/weekend?
In summer, I love to spend my days off or weekends at the beach with my family and friends soaking up the sun, playing beach cricket, skimming a waboba, and body surfing. In winter you’ll find me training at the gym and coaching at my rugby club.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is learning new things. I love to learn, whether it be from my colleagues, specialists or even students. I particularly love learning new things to teach and ways of teaching!
Do you have any secret talents you would like to share?
